“Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms.”

Psalms 95:1-2

The General Instruction of the Roman Missal, the Church’s guidebook for Holy Mass, reminds Catholics that “great importance should be attached to the use of singing in the celebration of the Mass. . . every care should be taken that singing by the ministers and the people not be absent in celebrations that occur on Sundays and on Holy Days of Obligation.”

When we sing, we experience God’s presence in a new way. In 2003, Pope St. John Paul prayed that every Catholic, by “expressing their faith harmoniously and solemnly in song, will experience its richness ever more fully and will abide by the commitment to express its impulses in their daily life.”

The Our Lady of Good Counsel Choir has been leading the faithful in song for many years on Sundays and for special liturgies.  We are thankful for their assistance in helping us to praise God with the gift of song the Holy Spirit gives us.

Please contact the Parish Office or see a choir member after Mass if you are interested in using your gifts with the music ministry.
